Harriet McKenzie and ensemble celebrate Britten, his inspirations and those who were influenced by him, with works that nod to his early music teachers – Frank Bridge and Audrey Alston, as well as by Arvo Part and Deborah Pritchard. Presented by Zeb Soanes, this Sea Change event will also mark the installation late last year of the Britten as a Boy statue on Lowestoft’s upper promenade within sight of his family home.

Alongside songs by Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Tippett, Britten, Holst, MacMillan, McDowall, Park and others, readings are drawn from R L Stevenson, Pope, Clare, Auden, Blake, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Christina Rossetti, and more.

THAXTED FESTIVAL

We are delighted to announce this wonderful line-up of Zeb Soanes, newsreader presenter and actor, and James Mayhew, author and artist. Together with the Campanella Ensemble and their conductor Sam Scheer, they will bring a magical Peter and the Wolf to this year's Proms Family Festival. Suitable for children over five and their grown ups, we will hear the music, the story and some fantastic illustration happening live on screen as the story is told. 

PROMS AT ST JUDE’S

A journey in words and music around the British and Irish Isles, with readings by author and broadcaster Zeb Soanes and music by St Martin’s Voices.

Set in the beautiful St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds, this evening promises to be a wonderful celebration of community, and rural life. Zeb will perform the Jack Frost Suite, composed and conducted by Debbie Wiseman.

In an exceptional exploration of one of Britain’s greatest actors, Zeb Soanes brings the life of Sir Alec Guinness to stage across the UK, marking the 25th anniversary of his death.

The Leonkoro Quartet’s programme recalls Britten’s deep affinity for the music of Purcell, the ‘English Orpheus’, and includes Britten’s Third String Quartet, the last substantial work that he completed before his death 50 years to this day on 4 December 1976. Broadcaster Zeb Soanes reads extracts from Thomas Mann’s Death in Venice before the performance of String Quartet No. 3.
